Chance to Shine

Case Study
The Organisation

Chance to Shine is a UK based charity dedicated to giving young people the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. Working with schools and community programmes nationwide, the organisation supports participation, wellbeing and personal growth. With a growing digital footprint and a distributed workforce, reliable and secure IT services are essential to support its mission.

The Challenge

As the organisation continued to grow, there was a need to review and modernise its Microsoft 365 and device management environment. Existing Intune policies required improvement to ensure consistent security controls across all devices. Device deployment and identity management needed to be streamlined using Intune and Entra ID to better support staff and partners.
Email systems were due to be migrated to improve reliability, security and collaboration, while ensuring minimal disruption to users. Device encryption and antivirus protection also required enhancement to meet current security expectations. In addition, the organisation needed support for OneDrive, Power BI and Microsoft Forms migrations, alongside improved access controls for guest users. These changes were driven by the desire to create a more secure, scalable and user friendly environment that could support both internal teams and external collaborators.

The Approach

We worked closely with the organisation to design and implement a structured Microsoft 365 improvement programme aligned with best practice. Intune policies were carefully configured to standardise security settings, improve device compliance and simplify ongoing management. All new devices were deployed using Intune and Entra ID join, ensuring consistent configuration from day one.
Email mailboxes were migrated to Microsoft 365 with a focus on continuity and user experience. Devices were secured using Sophos antivirus and full disk encryption, strengthening protection against data loss and cyber threats. OneDrive migrations were completed to improve file accessibility and collaboration, while Power BI content was migrated and supported to ensure reporting continuity.
We added 47 guest users and enforced multi factor authentication to strengthen access security. Microsoft Fabric was enabled at no cost for all guest users, extending analytics capability. Support was provided for Microsoft Forms migration, and DNS records including DKIM were updated to enhance email security and deliverability.
A total of 27 devices were onboarded to secure compliance management, with Windows Home upgraded to Pro where required. Business Premium and Power BI Premium Per User licences were purchased using non profit pricing under the New Commerce Experience. Calendar sharing policies were also updated so internal users could view full details, improving collaboration.

The Results

The organisation now benefits from a modern, secure and well managed Microsoft 365 environment that supports both staff and external partners. Device deployment is faster and more consistent, reducing setup time and ongoing support effort. Improved Intune policies and device encryption have strengthened the overall security posture and reduced risk.
Email reliability and security have been enhanced through the migration and DNS updates, while users benefit from improved access to files and data through OneDrive and Power BI. Guest access is now tightly controlled with enforced multi factor authentication, providing confidence when collaborating externally.
Licensing is optimised using non profit pricing, ensuring excellent value while unlocking advanced security and productivity features. Improved calendar sharing and collaboration tools have helped teams work more efficiently. Overall, the organisation is better positioned to scale its operations, support its mission and adapt to future technology needs with confidence.
