Global Greengrants Fund is an international non-profit organisation that supports grassroots environmental and social justice initiatives around the world. Operating across multiple regions and relying heavily on cloud-based collaboration tools, the organisation requires secure, reliable technology to enable distributed teams to work effectively and support its global mission.
Global Greengrants Fund’s UK operation required a structured IT support model and greater visibility of its cloud services, licensing arrangements and security posture. The organisation was operating within a broader international structure, with technology support historically coordinated alongside the US team.
The UK team relied on a range of cloud platforms including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Dropbox and other SaaS applications. During onboarding, there was uncertainty around Microsoft 365 licensing ownership and tenant structure, making discovery and validation an important first step before any changes could be considered.
A Microsoft Secure Score assessment also identified several opportunities to strengthen security controls, improve email protection and enhance data governance across the Microsoft 365 environment.
We carried out a structured onboarding and discovery process for the UK operation, reviewing users, cloud services, licensing arrangements and the relationship between the UK and US technology environments.
Given the organisation’s fully cloud-based working model, the focus was on establishing visibility, improving manageability and ensuring users could be supported efficiently through remote management and monitoring tools.
Following onboarding, we completed a Microsoft Secure Score review to identify practical improvements that would strengthen security while remaining appropriate for a non-profit organisation with internationally distributed teams.
Key recommendations included:
• Implementing Conditional Access policies to strengthen identity security.
• Deploying Microsoft Defender for Office 365 to improve protection against email-based threats.
• Introducing quarantine-based email filtering policies.
• Enabling email safety tooltips to improve user awareness.
• Implementing sensitivity labels for emails, documents and Microsoft Teams data.
• Applying Microsoft 365 organisational branding to improve user trust and consistency.
Global Greengrants Fund gained a clearer understanding of its Microsoft 365 environment, cloud services and licensing considerations, providing a stronger foundation for ongoing IT support and future technology planning.
The Secure Score project delivered a roadmap for enhancing security across the organisation, addressing identity protection, email security and information governance. These recommendations helped position the organisation to better protect users and data while maintaining the flexibility needed to support a globally distributed workforce.

Trust Us to Deliver
We moved to Qlic as we were looking for an IT support partner who would be able to address our IT needs as an organisation, be responsive to the day-to-day requests from our team members as well as prioritise our IT infrastructure and health. Since moving to Qlic last year, we’ve been able to achieve just that! In a short time frame, we have progressed on internal policies to strengthen our IT security, support the team with greater efficiency and care, and begin to prioritise further improvements for the organisation. We hope to continue building on our partnership and foresee that there are great results to come. This was confirmed in my initial discussion. After a thorough investigation of our challenges Qlic identified some cost- effective options to select from. We made our choice and were well supported during the take on period. Since going live we have been impressed by the rapid response of the support desk staff, their ability to identify the root cause problems and the quick fixes.
On performance to date, I have no hesitation recommending Qlic.
