The Brandon Centre
THE ORGANISATION
Based in the heart of our local community, Brandon Centre offers a comfortable, welcoming, and non-institutional setting for young people to access a range of mental health and wellbeing services.
THE CHALLENGE
The Brandon Centre were struggling as their Server 2008 & Windows 7 Operating System’s were soon to be end of life and their server was running without a manufacturer warranty, which had expired 2010. In addition to this they also had low server storage space, no remote access to files and no firewall, meaning the company had many security and compatibility and issues.
The Brandon Centre were keen to upgrade their current server and with that migrate to the cloud, in order to allow easy access and management of all their files and to optimise their data storage and remote working setup.
OUR APPROACH
Qlic proposed a Hybrid-Cloud environment, with secure site-to-site VPN, this allows office users to directly connect to, access security policies and files via the physical network server. This works seamlessly across both office and satellite connections. This can also be integrated with cloud services provided by Microsoft Office 365.

2x new DELL PowerEdge Servers were recommended, running Windows Server 2019 at their main office and at their sub-site.
Qlic additionally advised migration of all their files and folders to the cloud, including OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online.
Within the cloud migration and SharePoint solution, automated backups were recommended using Datto cloud to cloud backup, this allowed for unlimited data retention for both email and SharePoint data.
All Windows 7 desktops were to be replaced with the latest specification Windows 10 desktops, with Intel Core i5 Processors, 8GBb RAM, Solid State Hard Drives and Office 2019.
THE RESULTS
The migration over to Office 365 SharePoint and OneDrive not only improved their security and user access policies, but also enabled more flexible working and staff members can now access their files when ‘on the go’. This optimised their business continuity and efficiency.
The New Server Hardware which was implemented gave The Brandon Centre the latest Microsoft operating system with improvements in security, network performance and efficiency.
The installation of a Sophos UTM Firewall meant that The Brandon Centre gained zero-day threat protection and bit-level malware & virus filtering.
New Desktop Hardware meant that their user functionality was faster and improved significantly, along with this they gained Microsoft software and security patch ongoing support to assist them.
The Brandon Centre also had the added peace of mind as our service desk was on-hand with fast responses and fixed issues in the event of any problems with their devices or IT infrastructure.
