Age UK Bromley & Greenwich
THE ORGANISATION
Age UK Bromley & Greenwich (AUBG) is an independent charity which has been working to help older people in the local community for over 30 years. Starting out as Age Concern Greenwich in 1986 and Age Concern Bromley 1997, the organisations merged in 2011 to become a central Age UK hub for the Bromley & Greenwich areas.
THE CHALLENGE
AUBG were using a Hosted Desktop solution, accessing all organisation emails and files within their previous providers’ platform. The Hosted Desktop system was clunky, expensive and restricted their need for flexible collaboration across and outside of the organisation, while the IT support service from the current provider wasn’t robust enough for the charity and couldn’t properly support infrastructure and devices outside of their own Hosted platform.
The organisation was looking for a provider to scope and implement a migration to Microsoft 365 and were referred to Qlic by Age UK Bexley & Age UK Ealing, both of whom had been clients of Qlic for many years.
OUR APPROACH
Following our initial survey and audit of the organisations offices and devices, we presented a Best Practice Analysis report to Age UK Bromley & Greenwich which entailed a full and detailed migration plan to move to Microsoft 365 along with a hardware refresh project to replace the incompatible thin clients and outdated end user devices.
Working collaboratively with key staff from AUBG, our Solutions Delivery team built new Communication Sites within Microsoft 365 SharePoint to store the organisations shared data, with specific security groups and access-based enumeration to ensure staff could only see the areas they were granted permission to access.
Laptops & desktops owned by the organisation were enrolled in Azure Active Directory (ensuring only users with an @ageukbandg.org.uk email account can login to them) and Microsoft Intune (providing cloud-based control of compliance controls for the devices, as well as remote wipe capability should a device be lost or stolen).
THE RESULTS
Age UK Bromley & Greenwich were very happy with the completed project and couldn’t wait to start using their new and improved system. Since it’s introduction, the organisation has gone from strength to strength and is fully embracing a hybrid working environment with the help of Microsoft 365.
Our comprehensive IT Support service continues to provide advice and support to end users, as well as ongoing consultancy and facilities management (including adding/removing users, deploying new devices and amending SharePoint security groups and permissions).
