Home Start Surrey required a review of their current email and IT setup to better align with their operational needs and charitable status. At the time, the sole staff member, Lee, was using a single email address hosted via STACKCP, accessed through a web interface. There was no Microsoft 365 tenant in place, no backup solution, and no SharePoint configuration. The organisation needed a more robust, secure, and scalable solution that would support future growth, improve email management, and take advantage of Microsoft’s charity discounts.
Relate London North East & Essex made the strategic decision to separate from the national Relate brand and re-establish themselves as an independent entity under the new name, The Family and Relationship Centre. This transition required a complete rebranding, including the adoption of a new domain name and digital identity. A key challenge was migrating their Microsoft 365 environment to reflect the new domain, while ensuring minimal disruption to their users and a large number of counsellors who access services via personal devices. Additionally, clear communication was essential to inform BYOD users of the upcoming changes and ensure a smooth transition without impacting service delivery.
We began by setting up a new Microsoft 365 tenant for Home Start Surrey, ensuring the organisation was registered correctly to qualify for Microsoft’s not-for-profit programme. This allowed us to apply for and secure free Business Premium licences, significantly reducing ongoing IT costs.
Following the successful setup and migration, Home Start Surrey now benefits from a modern, secure, and scalable email solution tailored to their needs. The transition to Microsoft 365 has provided Lee with a more professional and reliable platform, with access to both email accounts from a single interface. . With the new tenant in place, Home Start Surrey is now well-positioned to expand its digital infrastructure, including future SharePoint and backup solutions. The migration has also improved data security and compliance, ensuring sensitive communications are better protected. Overall, the project has laid a strong foundation for future growth and operational efficiency.
