About Oasis Domestic Abuse Service

Oasis Domestic Abuse Service has been providing specialist support to individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse in Kent for over 30 years.  They offer safe, confidential advice via their Helpline and one-to-one support tailored to survivors’ needs, including housing, safety planning, and advocacy.  Their service provides outreach and community programmes to raise awareness and prevent abuse, while working closely in partnership with local authorities, police, and other services to ensure a holistic approach to support.

Oasis does all it can to empower survivors to rebuild their lives, regain independence, and feel safe, including through their work within hospital settings where they identify and support survivors at crisis points by providing immediate intervention and linking them to ongoing assistance.

Their children and young people’s services continue to deliver tailored, trauma informed support across Kent and Medway, helping young survivors and their families rebuild their lives.

In addition, they operate a charity shop that raises vital funds to sustain frontline services, while also acting as a community hub and offering opportunities for volunteering and skills development.

Oasis' Challenges

Like many charities, they continue to operate in a challenging financial climate at the same time as we experience an ever increasing demand for our services.   Each part of their offer needs to meet diverse and often complex needs, while promoting safety, resilience and independence.

Supporting survivors has become more difficult due to ongoing cost-of-living pressures, which can impact their ability to achieve permanent stability. There is also a recognised need for additional resources to support long-term recovery, ensuring that individuals can rebuild their lives sustainably.

At the same time, their teams are experiencing capacity and wellbeing pressures as a result of the high-intensity nature of frontline work.

Oasis' Achievements

Last year they directly supported 1800+ adults and children in Kent to break the cycle of domestic abuse and recover from the trauma.  They supported survivors to access safety and begin rebuilding their lives, helping individuals move from crisis situations into stable, secure housing.

Through their work, they increased survivor confidence, independence, and long-term wellbeing, while delivering measurable improvements in safety through effective risk reduction and safeguarding interventions.

They have built strong multi-agency partnerships to enhance outcomes for survivors, with positive feedback and testimonials from service users demonstrating the life-changing impact of our support.

Additionally, they have successfully secured funding and projects to expand their services and reach more people.

They trained a wide range of professionals working in housing associations, private medical practices, charitable organisations, Kent and Medway councils, Kent Police and more.  This training presence increases awareness of domestic abuse, and helps to promote a coordinated community response.

If you know, or think, you are experiencing abuse from a partner/ex-partner or family member, they can support you.  Call their helpline 0800 917 9948 or email them [email protected]
