About Apps For Good
At Apps for Good, they believe that young people can shape their future through technology, so they’re on a mission to make sure they have the tech innovation skills to truly thrive in an ever-changing world. Their free computing courses include ready-made resources that can be delivered by both specialist computing and non-specialist teachers, either in lesson time or in clubs.
Their three course themes give young people the skills to design and code an app prototype that solves a real-world problem, important to them, tackling themes such as climate change and social action.
Their content provides the essential skills needed for the future of work, improving young people’s confidence, problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
Their courses also offer students opportunities to engage with Industry Volunteers to provide them with valuable feedback and career inspiration, and each year, students’ achievements are celebrated through their online national Showcase.
Apps For Good's Challenges
As a small charity, they rely on funding from corporate partners, trusts and foundations, and generous individuals, so that they can keep their courses free and continue to positively impact young people, often those in priority investment areas where social mobility is low. The world of fundraising is tough right now, so they are continuously exploring ways to diversify our income and work with new partners.

Apps For Good's Achievements
In 2023/24, their courses reached over 30,000 young people across the UK. At the end of each course, they ask students to complete a survey, where they self-report their improvement in their computing and essential skills.
● 81% of survey respondents reported improvement in their computer programming skills.
● 93% of survey respondents reported improvements in more than one essential skill, including creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.

“Since I was young, I’ve been an avid superhero fan, and wanted to make the world a better place. Doing this app was a really good way for me to visualise and make it a reality […] Now I’m seeing tech as more of a way to change the world.” Sarvesh, Y9 student at The Judd School
“I think confidence is a big [skill that I’ve developed], and also teamwork. I’m always working alone, I don’t like working in groups. But this made it really enjoyable to be in groups.” Olivia, S1 student at Dunoon Grammar School
